PC Anywhere via U.S. to Japan

    Locked

    by netforce ·

    Here’s the situation.
I may need to access my wifes pc/win2000 to do troubleshooting from time to time.

She’s/pc in Japan using ADSL I will be in the U.S. probably using 56k dial-up.

Is this doable as long as I have it installed on both her and my machine and have or know her IP assigned address?

This should be interesting but I suspect bandwidth will be too slow to make any headway!!

Pc Anywhere via 56k/ADSL from U.S. to Japan?

    Any remote pros out there?

    Thanks

It will work just fine, mind you dependent upon your true dial-up connection speed. PC Anywhere has optimization settings so it will lessen the remote computers display for faster load times.

Mind you, if you know the i.p.’s and want to just save money, Netmeeting will also work and it is free.

      Good luck

Basically, it doesn’t matter which connection you are using. You can connect directly if both computers have modem. The cost will be high because it will be international call. If you are using 56K, then you expect less than 56K connection speed. In theory, it’s working but you need to have patience. I was using with dial up between state to state. It is so slow. Good luck.
