PC cannot reboot

By GDL ·
We have a Fujitsu-Siemens Scenic 300 PC that cannot be re-started after it has been shut down or re-started from Windows XP Professional. The only way to re-start is to unplug the power cord and replug it. Can anyone help?

What happens when you attempt to restart from within Windows?

The fact that you cannot restart points me to a software rather than a hardware issue.

Although, I have seen some hardware interaction problems with Windows XP that cause shut down difficulties.

While XP is not as bad as W98, there are still a few shut down issues.

Check out the XP shut down trouble shooting guide posted at www.aumha.org
