PC goes in stand by mode

After installing IE 6, my pc goes to StandBy mode whenever i try to shut down the machine.Also, when it goes to power saving mode, the machine does wake up even after pressing the return key.
pls. suggest a soln.

Make sure that the Power Scheme in Control Panel has no sleep mode enabled–set it to Never go to sleep.

Make sure the display properties have no screen saver enabled.

Check your system BIOS to make sure that no sleep mode is enabled there also and that Windows will do the power management. Different vendors have different ways of getting into system BIOS. Post a comment if you need more info and also let us know what kind of PC, what OS, etc…
