PC HANGS on Windows Explore / Find

by matthew.manfredi . Updated 23 years, 9 months ago

Hi !! All,
Hope you can help me on this frustrating problem I have with my WIN8=98se .

This is a very weird problem:
Before I explain the issue. Let it be known that I reinstalled WIn98 several times. Ran SCANREG FIX and RESTORE. Ran SCANDISK, VIRUS CHECK, SFC, Renamed Autoexec and Config to *.old. Cleaned Registries all of the devices in System Manger are not replicated nor in error. I have a startup log if required.

My issue is :

When I go and do a FIND, You can hear a spin and then the system hangs/frezes. I have to restart at this point. When I launch Win Explore, it hangs too, again have to restart PC.
Even when I use IE5 and go and replace the address field , the system hangs. However is I choose a site from my faroties, its fine.

Now, When i restart in safe-mode, I’m able to browse my drives and do a find and copy files rom drive to drive. (i have two drives 20g & 40g)

System config:
Intel 600mhz
320 kb ram
cd-wr cd-rom, geforce2 mmx 200 32 mb

any suggestions as to why my PC hangs/freezes when I try to access any of my file on the HD and when I to use WIN EXPLORE and FIND ????
