PC Startup problem

By elbertsim ·
When I turn-on PC, only can see the 'power-on' light, fan spin & CD-R light is also on, but nothing comes up, no BIOS & no display.

The problem is intermittence. Sometime can startup. After few days/weeks then die again.

Because of this reason i already changed mainboard/processor/RAM to new.

Please help...

Have you checked your power supply for the proper outputs??

Have you checked the video card? If there is a short in an AGP card you will get nothing. It'll look like everything is starting up, but nothing will happen.

You did not say but I hope you checked your monitor before you replaced the system board and memory? Nah... too obvious.

This problem is usually the "Power Good" circuit in the power supply.
When a PC is turned on, the power supply DC circuits come on.
When the sensor in the "Power Good" circuit senses that the voltages are in range (Within specifications) , it sends the "power Good signal to the motherboard.
The motherboard and BIOS wait for the "power good" signal to arrive before the boot begins.
If the power good signal from the power supply never arrives, the boot never starts.
Replace the power supply as first test.
Regards, Chris
