Hi. I have a problem with a pcAnywhere site. XP pro, dialup connection, setup for callback. Host computer was set up by someone else, with Admin and User groups.
Problem is that when I dial in from my remote (~300 kilometers away) the host answers, host and remote do their handshaking and hang up. Host then calls back, remote answers- end of story. On site testing with a laptop remote shows that after the callback initialisation the host simply hangs up and refuses to answer any more calls, even though it is still waiting for a call. I suspect something in the group permissions. I have downloaded notes on this from the Symantec site and am going on site in a couple of days and would like as much information as I can glean in advance, as I don't relish the 5 1/2 hour round trip.
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion, I've already been there. I am starting to suspect that there is a problem with the "controllerless" modem, and will try an external hardware modem next. Any further ideas still very welcome
You might try getting the remote computer to install a friendlier application than PCAnywhere. I personally swear by Funk Softare's Proxy application. You can download a beta copy easily from http://www.funk.com/subsections/download_demos.asp. Load it the master unit on you systme and e-mail or ftp the client to the end user. Have them install it with a password of your choosing. Even my most challenged end user is capable of installing this app. Once you have it installed you can check the PCAnywhere configuration yourself and make sure that it is correct and the version matches your version.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
