I have recently experienced a strange problem with PC Card modems when I update laptop computers to Windows XP Pro.
The modem is recognised and it dials the ISP and tries to negociate a connection. But it does not get to the ‘verifing user name and password’ stage.
I then get an error that the remote computer is not responding.
I have had this problem with Phonic and Psion PC Card modems.
These modems were working fine under Windows 98.
Any ideas?
