PDF file and Netscape

By melonie.boyd ·
I have a friend who downloaded a doc that needed Adobe Acrobat Reader. He downloaded that software, went to open the doc. and recieved a message saying he needed Netscape to read. He uses Explorer. Other than downloading Netscape, is there another way to work around this? It sounds to me like it might be a security thing and that it might have been saved as a PDF only to be opened with Netscape. Does anybody have any insight?
Would appreciate knowing why?

Sounds like it's looking for the Netscape plug-in version of Adobe. Try holding down the shift key while right-clicking on the file, select "Open With...", and selecting Adobe Acrobat Reader as the application to use (if it's not among the listed apps, you'll have to Browse to it).

You can use Adobe Reader just like you would Word. Start Adobe Reader from the program menu, then use the open command to find the downloaded file, select it and open it.
