philipscdrw 2400 series

I’ve installed it corectly, it says everything is fine, but when I go to put a cd in to burn it I can’t even format it. It won’t let me highlight the option. Won’t let me do anything. Help. Michelle

  Some additional information please.
  
  What version of Windows?
  
  What CD burning software is installed?
  
  How much RAM?
  
  What other drives are connected to the same IDE cable?
  
  As to formatting, you can only format a CD-RW disk.
  Regular CD-R disks are configured as they are burnt.
  
  Some general hints:
  
  Check if DMA mode is set to auto for the IDE channel that the CD-RW drive is connected to.
  
  Make sure that you have the latest updates for the CD burning software installed.
  
  Download and install the latest chip-set / system drivers for your PC.

  If you are using Nero Burning Rom, you’ll need to have the version that works with your burner. Not all versions of Nero work with all burners.

  You need a software package like nero or easy cd from roxio.
