    Pico cell improves cellular investment

    Locked

    by debate ·

Pico cell technology can improve an organization’s cellular investment by eliminating cellular coverage problems in highly congested areas like shopping centers, exhibition centers, office buildings, etc., as discussed in this week’s Wireless e-newsletter.

Have you explored pico cell technology? If you have, how much do you think it will improve your cellular investment? Can this technology help you?

      In-Building Coverage

As a manufacturer and installer of thousands of in-building systems we at Cellular Specialties, Inc are surprised at Puneet Gupta’s estimate of “in excess of $600 per subscriber” for the cost of “setting up such a system”. While this metric might have some relativity in the case of a large area with very few subscribers. A large shopping center with potentially 20,000 active subscribers per day would hardly be looking at a $12M system. In most cases the cost is more directly related to the areabeing covered than the number of subscribers. In many cases thes large systems are “neutral host” systems providing coverage for multiple carriers.
