Ping to "namePC" respond IP from another network

By agredo ·
Why will be the reason when I made ping to PC1 "Ping namePC1" (192.168.20.5) from another PC2 (192.168.20.6) it PC1 respond that does not find the IP address(192.168.44.33) that is from another network of PC1 "namePC1"; instead of respond from same network of PC1 and PC2 (192.168.20.5) (nothing in the host file)
PC1 = 192.168.20.5
PC2 = 192.168.20.6 and 192.168.44.33

thank on andvance for the help

DNS

by scott_heath In reply to Ping to "namePC" respond ...

Your DNS server has an incorrect entry, or the PC has a bad entry in the DNS cache.

Run "ipconfig /flushdns" on the machine doing the pinging and run "ipconfig /registerdns" on the other machine(s)

NO WINS

by BFilmFan In reply to Ping to "namePC" respond ...

If you can ping by FQDN, then DNS is working.

If you cannot ping by NetBIOS (short name) resolution, it means that WINS is not working.
