    +NewLove .VBS virus fix URLs?

The NewLove VBS viral worm spreads by attached .VBS files like ILOVEYOU.
Does anyone have other URLs for fixes for this? It almost completely destroys files on the target PC. Better have backups, folks!

It began spreading 05/18. It composes a blank MS Outlook email with the subject “FW: filename.ext” with the attachment “filename.ext.vbs”. The filename used is taken from the infected user’s Recently Used File list. This email is sent to everyone in the infected user’s Outlook Address book. Then the Worm destroys every file not in use at the time.

Another pretty good argument for using Eudora from http://www.eudora.com for your email.

http://www.ontrack.com has fixes for Fix-It 99 and System Suite 2000.
http://www.symantec.com has fixes for Norton Anti-Virus.

From Symantec’s AntiVirus Center this URL must be one line without spaces in your address window. VBS.NewLove.A is a newer name for the same viral worm.

I am sending you an attachment with a file I downloaded for Symantec. It’s a file to fix the machine once contaminated.

      I hope it helps!

I disagree with part of your opinion.

Here is a family of viruses that does serious damage to a particular popular e-mail product on a popular operating system & your solution is to use a different e-mail product, but other viruses target other e-mail products. I have also seen people saying that this is an arguement to use a different OS such as Linux, or a different platform such as Macintosh.

The less popular products may become more popular & thus be similarly targeted, so the real answer is to use a product with proven defense against this threat, such as OS/400, or to pick a product that is so unpopular that it is not likely to be virus targeted, but the reasons for unpopularity could lead to it no longer being in business. You can’t win with this kind of argument.
