I have a question regarding Pop Up ads. I know that they are fairly prevalent, but recently utilizing the Internet at my residence has become almost impossible due to these Pop Up ads. I can no longer view Email without being interrupted, or play online games for that matter. I have used the same Dial Up provider for years now, and never had a problem in the past…Now, I share the PC with my family and cannot be totally assured as to what they are doing, but I would like to give them the benfit of the doubt. I attempted to and did download some freeware Pop Up blocking programs, however, these interfered with our Email applications and effectively prevented the Inbox from appearing, much to the chagrin of my folks, who are less tech savy than myself. Additionally, other benign based items related to Pop Up technology were blocked as well, such as job opportunities (of which I am currently searching) and the like that appear in a pop up when you click to view a description. I have and run AdAware w/ the latest RefUpdate, which catches things from time to time, but nothing recently…Is there anything I can do? Are there worthwhile utilities to use? I am concerned that my Registry has been possibly modified…Many pop ups that come to me are questionable in content. Do you have any suggestions that may help me? Thank you in advance!
