Port com2, excl mark in device manager?

By tracynthurman ·
Pc has a sportser voice 33.6 PNP fax internal modem. While trying to establish a new internet connection, I am prompted to install a modem. Device manager shows an exclamation next to Port com2. Also says device has been disabled in the hardware. Code 29
Any suggestions?

Have you tried to remove it from the device manager and reboot computer and let Windows try to install it?

Go to your device manager and remove the hardare. Then hit the refresh and see if it will find it. This is a problem that comes up frequesntly in the ME version of windows. For some stange reason ME will lose slave drives, cd's and modems.

I would remove the device from hardware manager,
Then I would shut down the computer, and remove the modem. Restart the computer, and go into the bios and make sure one of your serial ports is
disabled. The modem has its own.Otherwise, you
will interupt confict.Restart windows and check
to make sure the device has been removed from
hardware manager.shut down again and install your
modem and reboot, and windows should find your
modem.
