the easiest way is to unplug the PC and see what light goes off.

The answer depends on what type of Switch you have. What make/model Ethernet switch do you have?

would show you all the hops, but it works off of Layer 3, if you have a switch that works off of Layer 2 of the OSI model. The L2 switch would not show up. You would need 3rd party software to find that out.

there are some test tools that can help

Some of the Hobbes tools have the 'portfinder' function that can flash a port LED on the switch.

"What's more, the LANID giga is also equipped with a port-finder feature that h elps to determine the workstation?s corresponding port: Just connect LANID giga to an unknown or unsure wall port and it will send a discontinuity 10/100 /1000 auto-negotiation signal to communicate with Switch/Hub."
