Power Off & On schedule

By avasile ·
I was wondering if anyone knows a way to power off my server (win 2003 - probably with a script), have the server off for 1-2 hours and then power on by itself. I can do this with an iSeries but not with Windows.
Thank you,
Adrian

Well you can use the shutdown.exe command to shutdown your server. The BIOS on the systemboard must support a power on time, or if you are using IBM servers, you can get a RSA card to do this for you. HP/Compaq makes a product called Lights Out that may have this capability.

I have a Compaq ML350 G2 which doesn't support Lights Out. How will I check the BIOS feature?
Thank you,
Adrian

On boot enter the BIOS usually F1 or F10 I believe. Look around in the power management area. The only other way I can think of is to use a (gulp... a very bad idea!) electrical timer to do this.

Too dangerous.
I'll just leave with it.
Thank you for your help.
