Powerpoint printing black and white?

By jen ·
We have a PC with NT4 SP6 and Office 97. When we try to print to an HP Colour Laserjet 4550 the print dialog box is automatically coming up with the 'print black and white' box ticked as default. When we remove the tick it appears on the next print. Has anyone else had this problem? I am having difficulty determining whether this is a Powerpoint, HP or NT problem. Any help would be gratefully received!

Powerpoint printing black and white?

The CLJ4550 has the ability to print in mono only, and HP advocate you use this at all times to increase print speed and also to reduce cost. It's not enabled by default, or at least it wasn't on the last 4550 I saw, but it may be on yours.

Additionally, such features can be controlled by the driver, so it's worth looking at the document defaults on the printer installation to ensure that the relevant colour facilities are enabled as defaults.

Powerpoint should pick up all the settings from the driver, so this is the most obvious place to look, but perhaps the driver has picked up a mono-preference from the printer itself. I would check the printer's on-board control panel.

This is assuming that the printer is physically connectedto the PC in question, and not via a JetDirect or other print server.

Good luck!
