preBIOS message...

By tyson44 ·
when i restart a message comes on before the CPU and MEM check

something like

113 73701 IRQ MCLCK 166 AIW samsung/micron DDR without DLL NTSC d4min1r1.370

hard to see some of the things might not be right

is this normal? if not what does it mean?

preBIOS message...

This is a guess, and should not be taken as anything more.
MCLCK refers to the sytem clock of Mater CLock
THe machine was/is clocked at 166 MHz. It migth have been modified / overclocked at a higher speed.
Memorry was added. The added memory is Double Datta Rate (DDR) running at ahigher spped than the bus can accomodate.
NTSC usually means National TelevisionSystem Comittee ( for info see http://www.ntsc-tv.com )which makes me think of diplay adapaters.
Since this is happening before the BIOS POST, it's probably something leading to that.
So, putting these things together, I'd guess that there's an incompatiblity between some of your system components that are not operating at the clock speed intended. SOme guesses:
-Motherboard was tweaked to be overclocked.
-Memory was added, probably DDR, that is not operating at the "double" rate.
-Display adapter had a jumper changed

Just guesses, but perhaps..... one never knows.

thx for the guess, i do think something is up with the display... i've been having problems(check previous posts).
i have a KA7-100 mobo it has the dip switches for overclocking, they're all off which means its running at CPU default FSB speed.
i have PNY SDRAM on my system i dont know y it says micron there or DDR....

Since you are also having problems running with graphics acceleration, I would have to say that your graphics card is failing. Try to find a replacement card that you can install to see if the problem goes away. Since you are getting the error when the card is being initialized, it is not related to your OS or drivers.

i'll try that eventually... but it has to be a problem with the settings(i hope) or the motherboard just cant handle it (abit ka7-100)

this massage dosent nessasarily mean there is anything wrong with the video it is just a post and the memory it refers to is the ddr on the video card and it is probably talking about the speed of the processor on the video card I think you also have a tv out on this card because of the ntsc part of the message witch is a brodcast format that american tv's use. I cant be sure because you have a hard time seing anything that goes by that fast.

I forgot most memmory manufacturers dont make the actual chips that go on the dimms or simms but micron and samsung do manufacture the actual chips.
