Fixing incompatent techs mess! The tech totally reinstalled this end-users operating system, Win ME. The sound worked sporatically after the techs reinstallation, but only working for a couple hours after they restarted the machine. It then regressed to only doing synthcore files but synthcore is not in Add or Remove Programs area (just SoundMax is there). Now sound stopped working altogether. All this has happened in a two week period.
Scanned for virus using AVG, none is found. It did have the Klez H before sound started degrading but removed it using Symantec program and AVG antivirus. This is a Presario 5000 series, 5wv280, VIA AC’97 Audio Controller (H)(shows this only in the BIOS), updated to Presario ADI SoundMax III Audio Driver (in the system area). Help!!!!
