Press any key to reboot

by phdj2000 . Updated 23 years, 9 months ago

Hi,
I’ve put a pc together a pc as follows..

1.5 Athlon proc
Asus A7S333 ddr motherboard
256 ddr ram
40 gig ibm ide hard drive
Nvidia geForceMX2 graphics card
Creative soundblaster sound card
Net connect 10/100 modem
LG 52x cdrom
floppy drive
56k internal modem

It booted ok but when I tried to boot from a windows xp cd it just said “No Emulation” and did nothing.
I tried to boot from an old windows 98 cd and it went into the setup program. I went through and chose to configurethe drive for faster access cos it’s a large drive (or whatever it says) and all it did was give me a black screen that says “Press any key to reboot”. If I press any key it reboots. If I don’t press a key it just sits there.
i’ve tried rebooting with the 98 cd in the drive, rebooting with the xp cd in the drive, and rebooting with no cd in the drive and each time I just get a black screen with the message “Press any key to reboot” at the top.

Does anyone have any idea what’s going on. Please help.

Phil.
