Question

Locked

preventing users access to internet

By ljpengel ·
I want to prevent some users to access the internet. I have a SBS2008 server and the all the workstations in the domain are running WindowsXP.
Is there any Group Policy I can use or setting in the DHCP server (of the SBS2008 server)?

Hi,

Question is do you want to lock this down at the user or workstation level? so should the block be enforced on any workstation that user logs into or should the block run on a workstation no matter who logs into it?

You can restrict internet access through GPO. It's well documented out on the net. The idea is to set IE to point to a non existing proxy server and then lock down the ability to uncheck the "use a prox server".

Depending on your firewall hardware, you may be able to do it from there as well.
