Print LPT2 on winxp

By sakis13 ·
I have a DOS program and i print on two parallel-port printers (LPT1 & LPT2). After installing winxp, the system will not print at all in LPT2. I checked the device manager and LPT2 is installed correctly, any ideas?

Have you set up a printer under addprinter and assigned it to lpt2: as it's device? By default, winxp assumes that all printers are lpt1: unless the port is expliticely changed.

hope this helps

Dos programs usually only print to lpt1. You may need to set a net use command to run it to lpt2.
Also, if lpt2 shows up in WinXP but your printer is not found from it, uninstall it and reboot. It should reinstall the drivers.
Another thing to check is your system's bios, there are multiplecmos settings for printer ports, EPP, bi-diredctional, etc. I usually put thingas on bi-directional unless the printer does not support it (most newer printers support bi-directional). EPP has caused some problems for me in the past.
