printer

hi im tryin to use a printer on a network,all other pc can see the printer,except one its a win 98 OS,,the server is nt4,and the majority of the pc,s on the network are using xp

You would have to add the 98 driver on the print server. Has that been done?

centron honestly speaking the remedy is upgrade that 98 sucker to Xp ! But if you cannot at the moment , the best thing to do is to get hold of the cd of the printer and from it load the drivers on both server and client manually . sometimes this solves many problems. then do the sharing configuration of the printer. before all , make sure your 98 can reach ( ping the server to and pro )the server and has all the user access rights.

i agree about 98 it just takes up to much time spoon feeding it,but it wasnt an option for me to send it to software heaven,.

If the first answer doesn't work (sometimes you can't add an additional driver) then install the printer locally on win98 machine, and after that try to change the LPT1 port (which is the default port) to a new port like the followings: \\ServersName\PrinterShareName or \\server's IP\PrinterShareName
