Printer drivers disappear

By lmcmeans ·
I have a NT client that loses his printer drivers when he boots up his machine. (only sometimes) There is an application error at boot up the includes spoolss.exe and then a Dr. Watson file is generated. When you look under settings-printers it iscompletely blank. Any ideas?

Stop and then start the spools service. Reinstall the printer, then reapply the service pack. Might be a good idea to run chkdsk /f, too.

Not sure what else to tell you at the moment without more specifics.

The reason the printers folder is blank is because of the spoolss error. The spooler service has been stopped. What does the error specifically say, both on-screen and in the event log? You can just restart the spooler service (Control Panel, Services), but that won't fix the root problem.
