Printer Woes

This might be hard to answer but you might be able to give me a few ideas to try.
A Customer has a Panasonic Dot Matrix KX P1124 printer connected to their XP computer system. They use it for printing out rent receipts etc. Monday morning it was working fine the receptionist tried to print more receipts that afternoon and would not print the receipt but prints the following message 1M12345X0PJL comment HP Laser JEt 6L. Then prints OPJL SET PAGEPROTECT-off
OPJL SET PAGE PROTECT AUTO
OPJL SET RET ON
OPJL SET ECONOMODE OFF
OPJL SET RESOLUTION 600
OPJL ENTER LANGUAGE PCL
Then nothing. I tried printing a word document, it takes a while torespond but finally prints.
We tried another similar printer the same thing. Therefore I cannot say it is a printer fault as both printer doing the same thing. The only thing I can think of is particular printing settings for continuous receipts orsomething to do with the software program they are using to print the receipts which is called CONSOLE. I have looked through the Panasonic Manual but nothing on error codes. Would the above printed message be like a handshake message between the computer and printer, then loosing contact? My problem is why do both printers print ordinary documents but not the receipts. Any ideas Thank you
