My company is experiencing a problem with one user who accesses a third-party internet application written in .asp. We are using Internet Explorer 5.5 to access this software. The application allows the user to call up secondary screens with pertinent information to the primary screen they are accessing. These secondary screens are accessed from links or lookup boxes on the primary screen and seem to be driven by GOTO statements in the code. The secondary screens do not bring up all the IE menu/toolbar options, but they do display data or allow insert/update/save access to data related to the information in the primary screen. Sometimes when this user accesses a secondary screen the secondary screen window will pop up, but it will be gray or white with no info. There are no error messages and the user is able to close the secondary screen, they just see no information. Exiting and rerunning the application doesn?t help. Rebooting the PC sometimes helps, but not always. No one else throughout our company has experienced this problem to the same degree. It only appears to happen on this computer which is not really unique. It is a Gateway E1600, PIII-1GHz running Windows 98 SE and the same software all the other computers are running.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? We have completely reformatted and reinstalled the operating system and software on the PC, which helped for several days before the problem started reoccurring. We also upgrades this pc to IE6. The same user can go to any other PC at her location and access the secondary screens without any problems.
