I am trying to set up a server for home use, and for practice. All of the following are new equipment and parts.
It has the following:
1. dual 1.5 Athlon processors
2. 2 @ 1 Gig DDR Ram
3. 3 @ 80 Gig system hard drives striping
with parity
4. 1 @ 20 gig system Hard Drive
5. This is a Tyan dual processor board.
6. Raid card 133mhz
System is Windows 2000 Server
The problem is on system startup it hangs on the final windows screen at the half way point.
I tried removing the memory and placing each ram chip in each of the slots. Each time it gets to the same point and stops bootup.
I tried striping out all components to the minuim for startup and still get the same freeze up.
I tried reset on the cmos jumper.I am aware the memory is required in the #1 and # 2 slots but tried moving them to see if that would help.
As I am new to the IT field I have run into a brickwall for my experience.
Can anyone suggest a remedy, or if you have experienced the same problem and found a work around, please help me?
