Problem with Cisco QuickVPN Client and logging in remotely

By aceman040 ·
Hi all, I am new to VPN and I am trying to set up a VPN solution for a friend's business. He needs the ability to work from home and has an employee that is about to go on Short Term Disability, that handles his billing and could work from home. I have a Cisco "Linksys" Firewall that allows up to 5 VPN connections and it comes with Cisco QuickVPN client. We are using Windows Server 2003 R2 and I have set up Remote Access (I think). When I connect using a laptop via a Broadband card, I can connect via VPN and that's all...I couldn't do anything, I could see that I'm connected and I could open a program that he uses for his ticketing system (Database) but it would just sit there, I couldn't do anything inside the program. I tried this at his business site, when I tried from his home, using his home network, he could connect, yet would not be able to do anything on the company network, not even open his ticketing program (maps a Z: Drive on the server).
I am confused and I don't know where to turn. Does he need to get Terminal Server (more $$$'s) in order to get things to work? He is a small business owner and I am trying to do this as cheaply as possible, yet not drive me nuts in the process! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
