problem with westell and verizon

By sunshine560 ·
i have a verizon modem and netgear router.
what configurations should i use to get this thing work. i think i should use a netgear modem that is dg834 that should be compatible with netgear router which is wgr614v6. can i use netgear modem instead of westell modem.
as i know there is some settings on the westell modem like bridged ethernet however these settings are not there in the netgear modem. which provides pppoa configurations. on the westell we can only use pppoe configurations.
please help me out.

look at the bottom of the modem

if it says ADSL+2 router, your modem is a router and works with the subnet 192.168.1.1/24. So if you stick another router in there, it has to be on another subnet [192.168.2.1/24] to work.

the other option is to disable the routing function on the westell so that it acts strickly as a modem.

see Verizon's site for info regarding how to configure the Westell 6100 to work with other routers.
