Problems with backup

By jeremy ·
"Hinrgman" told me to back up the 540MB hard drive that I need to remove dynamic drive overlay from by burning it to a cd. That would be fine, but how do I burn it to a cd when it has to be the first thing to boot and only has MS-DOS? Could I set up a burner from that hard drive running only DOS? Let me know how if its possible.

Hi
I use roxio ezcd and simply drag it to copy or tell it to copy drive ? . Any cd rw software will or should copy whatever you tell it to.

This sound like you are using a figistu 540 with ddo that lets you boot from any sourse you chose,be it flooppy,cd,other drives etc.At boot hit f5 to get a drive or choose f8 to answer yes or no to bootup questions.Say no to start with ddo or go into the help part of the software(figistu or whatever you setup with and undo dynamic drive overly.I have done it myself.Be careful NOT to check the drive first for drives needing DDO.It will reject you.

The drive is set up to start from a cd.Is this right. Can you start from the hard drive.Hit del at boot,go to cmos change boot order cd-c-a-b,to C-CD-A.Does MS-DOS version have msbackup.exe,or msbackup.com,or only msbackup.ovl extentions installed. The first one will let you backup files to the drive itself,by saying where you want to back it up to.Use c:,make a directory by typing md foldername, hit enter,go to that folder,cd\folder,at the prompt. Then c:\dos\msbackup...whatever,choose your files.
