Problems with Remote Desktop Printer

By ramaule ·
Hi all - we are connecting with Remote Desktop to a server and have a local printer. We have printed to this printer with no problem in the past. Recently we have reconfigured our network and removed one of the computers to another location. Now, we cannot print from the remote server to the local printer, but when we can see it and even go to properties for it. If we send a test page to the printer, it spins up and sounds like it will print, and the job briefly shows in the printer queue, but nothing will print. What has happened? can anyone help?

When you say "local printer"

Do you mean a printer that is connected to your PC and shared or a network printer that just happens to be where you are?

Sounds like

That would happen if you inadvertently gave the same IP to another device as the printer.
What happens when you try to telnet to the IP address?
