I picked up this computer at a garage sale for free, lucky me, but unfortunately it did not come with any information about the motherboard or the processor chip inside. By looking through the information stored by the device manager, I have found that my processor chip is an AMD Athlon 1800+ 1.53Ghz Model 8 Family 6 x86. I would like to upgrade my chip to something around the 2 to 3Ghz range, but I do not know anything about the chip I currently have. Any information on the current chips settings would be great so I can buy something compatible.
Additional– I have never replaced a CPU chip in my life but I have read some on how it’s done, so any advice in doing that is also greatly appreciated.

PS: Did some more snooping through my Device Manager and came across this information for my Motherboard: ACPI\PNP0C02\1, hope it helps anyone who answers this question. 🙂
