What is pt snoop and is it necessary?

I believe it has to do with your modem. I also wondered what it was and was told it was for certian modems of a lower quality.

Hi,
It is for a modem as the first respondent pointed out. I cannot attest to whether the modem is of a lower "grade," but the modems are of the v.90 standard. An odd name though.

My understanding is that pt snoop is used by host signal processing (HSP) modems (ie: PCTel) to wait for requests to the com port, then load the necessary drivers. If your modem manual indicates that it's an HSP modem, then pt snoop is likely loaded as part of them modem installation.
