Published printers in Active Directory

By shanna ·
I am running server 2003 and have published 10 networked printers to Active Directory using the "List in Directory" but on each printer's sharing tab. The printers DO appear when you search for a printer using the Add Printer wizard, but they do NOT appear anywhere in the AD Users & Computers console.

Also, if I try to manually add the printers to any of the OUs in AD (even using the syntax \\servername\sharename), it says it's unable to add the printer and to use the Printers folder.

Any idea what gives? I'd "like" the printers to appear in AD...

Thanks for your help in advance.

Shaun.

I just had the same problem. The printer appear in the AD under the server they are installed on. I.E. click on your file/print server. They are listed there.

Hello

If you do a search on the top of your domain in Users and Computers you will find all your printers then you can move them to an OU that you could create called "Printers", then managing them becomes a bit easier.

Go to Active Directory users and computers, in the view option change to view: users, groups and computers as containers.
Go to your print server, click on its icon you will see all your printer on the right side
Thank you
