Quality Assurance Quality Control Best Practices

By rilesb ·
I would like to hear from Quality Assurance / Control professionals on sources for Best Practices. Presently I am engaged in a large corporation developing a Quality Assurance Framework.

ASQ

In the US, the primary source for information and standards for quality control can be found at:

www.asq.org

Don't forget to look up the work of Doctor Deming who is the father of modern quality control systems.

Now, while many aspects of quality control are universal, you do need to make adjustments for specific industries.

Take digital electronics. Products either work or they do not. It is difficult to find a measurable parameter to chart that will offer any incite to how well your processes are operating.

While it has been looked upon as a joke, I believe that charting the weight of electronic circuit board assemblies at various points in the process may well be the best measurable you could track.

So, what industry are you in?
That would help us provide usable input.

If you are involved in IT framework, you should review CMM from Software Engineering Institute, at http://www.sei.cmu.edu/cmm/cmms/cmms.html
