Quantum LTO 3 drive stalls out on any operation

by johnaaaaaa20 . Updated 16 years, 7 months ago

This is a brand new drive, attached to an LSI Logic 8953U PCI SCSI adapter. We’re using Backup Exec 12.5 on SBS 2003. The drive gets to the “Initializing” part of any operation and then the job stalls out. This happens in the Windows Backup utility as well. I ran the XTalk diagnostic utility and it also seemed to stall out (the operation was supposed to take 20 minutes and was still running about 2 hours later).

I took the drive, cable, terminator, and SCSI card (in short, ALL the hardware) and plugged it into another server with an identical motherboard, also running SBS 2003, and it works fine. So I think it has to be some sort of software problem.

Here is the XTalk log (I finally had to stop the operation as it was getting nowhere):

xTalk Version 6.1.2
