RAID 1 Card

By class ·
Current high capacity (+50 GB) HDDs are as fast as they are unreliable! I cherish an expert's opinion on the best RAID card (that you have tested and pleased with) for a cluster of RAID 1 instalaltions (kindly specify vendor and model). Thank you.

RAID 1 Card

I will assume you are looking at IDE support. I have had great luck with the Promise Fasttrak 66 card. It costs less than $150 and allows up to 4 attached drives. In some uses you can surpass SCSI speeds although IDE can not handle as many commands/requests. The tests I have done with this card have all been A/V related where reliability speed and amount of storage is crucial. Of course it is important to use the exact same drive on the array's you set up. I hope this has been somewhat beneficial. Please contact me with any questions.
