Raid Config for SBS 2003

By rjkoechel ·
I'm going to be deploying a Windows SBS 2003 for a 10 user network. What would be the ideal raid configuration? We will be running exchange 2003 on this server along with ISA. 8 of 10 users will be using small amounts of disk space.

This depends on what the hardware supports

If you have a Hardware RAID you'll need to look at what is supported and what your primary goal is Redundancy or Performance. But with 10 Users I would be looking at a Mirrored RAID Array if for no other reason than redundancy as it gives you far more chance of not getting into trouble when something goes wrong.

But having said that it really depends on what this is going to be used for and if there is some High Performance Application Involved. If there is you may need to look at a different solution. Don't forget about the additional CAL's or Terminal Services depending on what you are using as you'll need at least 1 X 5 Pack if there are 10 end users involved here.
