RAID Configuration!

By kiaace ·
I appologize in advance if this question makes no sence. I am trying Setup a small business server with Smart Array P400 RAID card. I would like to know if I can install the OS on a 0+1 config using 4 SAS hard drives, and have a second set of 4 SATA hard drive also configured 0+1. The second set would be for data.

Yes

You didn't specify the server, but the card is capable of doing what you say.

Depending on the specific model HP server you're using, you may need to purchase extra cable kits to utilize all 8 drives.

Second RAID controller!

by kiaace In reply to Yes

Thanks for the reply, I was under the impression it would require a second RAID controller.
more details:

HP Proliant ML370 G5. it takes 16 SAS 2.5" hot swappable HDs. It has a Smart Array P400/256 RAID controller. This is exactly what I want to do.
Have two Hard Drives for the OS install RAID 1, and have 3 Hard Drives on RAID 5 for data and app.

Thanks again for your help

Good to go

I run that same config in all my servers, which are all HP ML's and DL's; you don't need the second RAID controller in the G5 to run that setup.
