RDP connection problem to SBS box

By jemosher ·

I have a SBS 2003 box that seems to not accept RDP conections from either the internal network or external network. IT can make RDP connections to other servers however it just can't recieve any. The server is setup to recieve RDP connections via the Remote tab from "My Computer". I also do get a credential prompt but I get a "this computer can't connect to the remote computer" from several system on the network. I also dont see anything in the event logs to lead me to the right direction. ANyone have an idea what could be preventing me from RDP'ing to the SBS box? Any help would be great! Thanks!

If you get a prompt for credentials, it sounds like there is communicaton there, but you might want to verify with ping.

Then I would check to see if there is a GPO blocking remote connections to your SBS. This may be under Default Domain Policy or Domain Controller Policy.

If that doesn't do it, check your firewall to make sure port 3389 is open to your SBS. That is the default port RDP uses. I would check the Windows firewall on the machine and whatever hardware firewall you may have in place.

Hope this helps. Post back with results.
