Read recovered optical disk image file

By Sherril ·
I have got into a real mess with my data stored on several CD-RW disks and don't understand the problem. I coppied files to disk-all OK but after formatting HDD from Win XP Home Fat 32 to NTFS and adding only Norton security-I can not read my rom disks. Tried undelete software and only get message "no supported file system found on disk"
Tried recover software apps and can access some but not all files.
Tried Nero 5.5 and can copy Image file to HDD but not all of it and don't know what to do to be able to access origonal content from image file.
Clearly I am in over my head but I need the data on the cdrom and would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you Sherril

Do you recall what software was used to format the CD-RW disks?

You need to install the correct UDF reader software to read files from a CD-RW disk.

Either In-CD from Nero, or UDF Reader from Roxio.

Hi there! I copied the disk using the XP Home OS and just dragged the files in win explorer. Since formatting HDD I have added Nereo 505 and that is how I aquired the image file. Does that help. Thanks for your time considering my question. Cheere Sherril

Sounds like the driver for the CD-RW is not correct. Saw this with upgraded CD-RW install, new was not supported by old software and would not recognize the drive.

In control panel-> system, check the properties for the CD-RW, if all seems ok try updating the driver for it.

All else fails, delete the CD and reboot let Windows find a driver for it.

Burning software does not affect the ability to read the CD when only browsing using explorer, this would be the OS installed driver.
