Rebooting PC

This is probably a power supply problem. If it always reboots when you touch the case there is a connection problem inside and should be opened up and the connector supplying the motherboard should be checked. I have seen machines that spontaneously reboot have virus problems that cause this.

Turns out it "WAS" a connection problem with the power supply to the motherboard. I replaced the tower and all is well!

thx again,

I had this problem once, to rectify it I;

Removed the cover
Powered up the computer.
Then using a non conductive instrument gently tapped different components through-out the motherboard to determine what would cause it to reboot.
Turned out Ihad a badly seated add-board and poor connections on the memory combined to create a reset sequence.

Good Luck!

I did tap all the components, and tried a # of things, but it was a power supply motherboard connector problem.
I replaced the tower and all is well!

I'd also check that the system was connected through a grounded outlet, just to ensure you're not static-zapping it.

I would imediately suspect that the motherboard is being shorted out. Are you using non-metal washers to isolate the motherboard from the metal screws and the metal case? If not then go purchase such items from a Radio Shack or any Computer store and isolate your motherboard. Good Luck.

It was a power supply problem, motherboard connector short. I did use the non-metal washers though.
