Recovery after power failure in home

by wincan . Updated 23 years, 11 months ago

When I was surfing the Net there was a power blackout in the neighborhood that required hydro crews to work for 3 hours.
I immediately disconnected all the cables, although I have surge protection. After power was restored I hooked everything back up, pressed the power button on the front of the case and everything worked fine. Using IE did result in a blue screen soon after and I used the repair attached to it.
After a cold start up a few days later, I needed to press the button a few timesand Windows booted fine. Is this old age or maybe caused by the power outage? No other changes in software or hardware since the outage.
My system is 3 years old (Windows 98SE, Pentium II IE 6).
