Redirect parallel port print jobs

By kbwoynATL ·
Is there a way to redirect an output sent to a parallel port to an IP attached network printer or to a directly attached printer connected via USB port?

Yes.

But I don't know your OS, so this may not apply:

net use lpt1: \\server\printer /persistent:yes

or

net use ltp1: \\IPaddress /persistent:yes

Hi
Should the network printer already be set up on your system, simply select that printer, from within the application you are using, when you print. Should this printer not be already installed on your system, install the drivers and set up the IP port to use, usually done with the installation of the printer drivers. The same is true of a local USB printer. The drivers for this printer should already be installed on your system, since it is a local printer, and easily selectable when you print. This will work for peer-to-peer networks, with the printer shared out and your rights to use the network printer. On a domain, you may be denied or restricted. Check with the domain administrator to see if you can access this printer and be prepared to give a valid reason for doing so.

I hope this helps.
