Redirected folders giving weird results with Vista/XP

by tmpoulette . Updated 17 years, 11 months ago

I have a Windows 2000 server, and set up a group of students with group policy to redirect My Documents to a shared folder on the network. I followed the sharing permissions guidelines and they can save to these folders…sometimes. If they log on the first time using Vista, their folder is created with their username but the icon looks like a file, and the folder name shows documents, rather than their username. I read somewhere to delete the desktop.ini file and it appears properly..and it does. The problem is sometimes it saves properly and sometimes not. In accessing from a Vista machine, some of the files do not display, and most are saving with a temp.xps filename–depending on what Vista machine is used. XP machines work perfectly, but Vista machines do not. Any suggestions?
