Registry problems

Hi i am getting frequent lockups upon startup, i boot up my pc and windows ME starts to load, then it says registry, checksum error. what should i do about this. sorry for lack of detailed info.

The most likely cause is a CMOS battery going bad, here's a link on how to replace your battery.

Possible errors are: - software conflict or
- unreliable memory.

Try: - uninstall the software that you put in lately. OR - try to change to another piece of RAM on your system.

It does sound like a memory error. If you have 2 memory cards in remove them and put one in at a time in the end slot and see if the error occurs only when one of them is installed. If so replace and fixed. you will need to know the type of memoryto replace it. The motherboard name/numbers may assist you in that as well.
