Remote Access Print Server

By mwcoop53 ·
I have a remote user who is unable to connect to our print server. He is running Win2000 Pro and accesses our network via Symantec's RaptorMobile. Whenever he tries to print a document on one of the network printers, he receives the message "unable to connect." He can browse Network Neighborhood and access our servers and applications just fine. He can also print fine to his local printer. When he tries to display the properties for a network printer, he receives an "unable to display printer properties" message. I had him remove one of the listed printers and try re-adding it, but when he tries to browse the available printers, none ever appear. When I had him manually try to enter the name of a network printer to be added, he received the "unable to connect" message. He is not able to ping any of the network printers from his location.
When I set his computer up inside our network, I could print just fine to the network printers.
Any suggestions or ideas what could be wrong?
Thanks for any insight!!

It may be similar to PCanywhere printing, where you install the same printer driver on the remote computer as is on the network. I believe you also "share" the network printer through the Symantec software set up on the host side. On the client printer port you select the port installed by Symantec. In PCanywhere it is something like ".pcw" instead of lpt. Hope this helps.
