remote access restriction

By kkelly_79 ·
Hi, how do you get around the restriction when you have two pc (both xp home sp2) networked together, sharing, but there's a remote restriction on both side. I was able to remote pc #2(xp pro) BEFORE, using #1 (xp home) as main, both pc are now sharing files, but i can't to remote either one. Ping both pc is successful, and even PCanywhere is unable to connect on both end. and yes firewall are disabled.
Any ideas? thanks in advance.

kelly , ( one sidepoint : though you said I can ping ,later you said I lose connection..you must be pinging %100 of the time ).
Possible solutions:
1.In your net. neigh. properties chech that file and printer sharing is checked .
2.In tcp/ip properties check that when file & printer sharing is selected the box supposed to be informing you when the link is disabled or filtered is checked .
3. Inside the advanced properties of the ip check the last tab of the advanced button : In options check the box to allow Netbios over tcp/ip4.
4. If all fail recreate a small home network from scracth on both pc s . and for two pcs use share level configuration do not check any domain name or domain log on boxes .

hye hoz, thanks for the respond, although i've tried to recreate a network (which was successful, yet when, rebooting pc, the both pc doesn't not reconnect to each other.(?) i also uncheck the filtering, although not really clear on the tci/ip (4). although it can network with each other (without, rebooting/switching user) i want to atleast have both pc reconnect to their network, what is a ypical network setup steps for 2 computer.
