Go into a little more detail on just what you want to accomplish please? Do you have any remote controlling software installed on your Win98 unit?
Are you on a dial-up connection or cable or DSL?
Static or roving IP address? On my Win98 box I use PC Anywhere to connect to friends & customers units to make system settings changes, downlosd files, do updates and service remotely, etc....But the software must be installed on both ends, and you need to know the IP addresses for both units(if connecting over the internet), or dial modem to modem over a phone line, or have them directly cabled together.

More info would be needed to actually answer your question though in detail.
