    Remote Desktop / Folder Sharing

    Locked

    by shellbot ·

Ok, I’m asking this with the distinct possibility of being branded an idiot, but oh well, i’ve been called worse 🙂

I use MS Remote Desktop to access our Web & database servers which are remotely hosted.

Now, I have admin access/right on both my local machine and the hosted machines. I can set forders to share etc..

now, when i try and acess the hosted machines it doesn’t work.

    start, run
    \\192.***.***.*\C$

    i get a message saying
“The network path cannot be found”

What am i doing wrong? Is there something i have not set correctly or some other permissions?

    Thanks!

When you say “remotely hosted”, does that mean the \\192.xx.x.x machines are in another location, possibly behind a firewall? If that’s the case it’s very likely that the firewall is not opened for MS file\print.

If the servers are just in a remote location but you’re on the same network, you might have to verify if admin shares are enabled. The easiest way would probably be to log on to the remote server with Remote desktop and run the command from the server itself.
